GPA is a widely used indicator of academic achievement. It represents the average of grades earned in each course, taking into account the credit value of each course. Grading systems can vary across countries and schools. This calculator accepts both letter grades and numerical inputs. The letter grades are converted to numerical values according to the following scale:

  • A+ = 4.3 grade points
  • A = 4 grade points
  • A- = 3.7 grade points
  • B+ = 3.3 grade points
  • B = 3 grade points
  • B- = 2.7 grade points
  • C+ = 2.3 grade points
  • C = 2 grade points
  • C- = 1.7 grade points
  • D+ = 1.3 grade points
  • D = 1 grade point
  • D- = 0.7 grade points
  • F = 0 grade points

Please note that certain grade designations such as P (pass), NP (not pass), I (incomplete), and W (withdrawal) are ignored in the GPA calculation.

In the United States, many schools, colleges, and universities utilize a grading system based on the letter grades mentioned above, although some may use E instead of F. Grading systems can vary, including the criteria for A or B grades. Additionally, some systems may not include grades like A+ or B-. Certain courses might carry more weight, affecting the overall GPA based on the credit value assigned to each course.

Use the calculator to input your course grades and credit values to obtain your GPA. Customize the settings to match your specific grading system and preferences.
